Silk: a few screenshots from Series 2

Without comment, though I'm itching to write a longer post as I'm loving this series much more than series 1.  If you've missed them, you can up on BBC IPlayer - see sidebar for links - or you can just watch and enjoy them again.

For now though, I'm in shallow territory so I'll stick to pics of Rupert Penry-Jones at his best in these episodes.

Don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of the page - you will be rewarded!

Whitechapel 3 Episode 3: Screenshots

The first episode of story 2 and it was a fabulous episode.

The episode may contain a very big clue of who is really doing the poisoning and dismembering with the witch lady being the red herring as in story 1 - or is that another red herring?

My enjoyment of this episode was enhanced by familiarity with lots of the locations etc from filming last summer. See here (May be spoilers).

A few random comments on the episode are scattered between the screenshots. Inevitably they contain spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the episode yet.

Audience figures - 6.1m (incl +1) which is an increase on episode 2 and an AI (Appreciation Index) of 89.

Chandler and baby Martha - and a collective sigh across the UK. The sighing was equalled by the awesomeness of Rupert posting pictures of his new puppy on Twitter.  Bumble is seriously cute.

Eyetvsnapshot4

Was the name Martha a coincidence?

Eyetvsnapshot27

This shot reminds me a lot of Adam Carter in S6.  In fact, there were a number of nods to Rupert's other work in this episode. Apart from Martha, we had  'He's an asset' (of Buchan) the Thames speedboat scene and the fact that DI Mina Norroy looked a little like Ros in S5. And Miles said  'This isn't Jane Austen' !

Eyetvsnapshot7

I loved the scene in the garden when Chandler was brave to impress DI Norroy and then admitted to Miles he would lose his mind if he didn't get rid of the blood and grime associated with the dismembered foot.

Eyetvsnapshot15

Forgive me Mansell, but I'm so glad Chandler didn't get caught in that mantrap.

Eyetvsnapshot13
Eyetvsnapshot18

There were two fabulous scenes which really underlined Chandler's OCD without making reference to it. In the office when DI Norroy was neatly setting out the discovery of the torso, and in the pub when Chandler was lining up the bottles.

Eyetvsnapshot9

Kent's jealousy of DI Molloy especially in the coat scene. Awww.

Eyetvsnapshot17

I liked the nod back to bins, ties and deodorants. Will Chandler add toothbrushes?

Eyetvsnapshot19

Despite the involvement of Norroy, Chandler and Miles seemed much more of a team in this episode.

Eyetvsnapshot26

I'm not sure where the relationship between Norroy and Chandler is going to end up, but it's a good storyline.  The mortuary scene when both said '10 years' simultaneously underlined their similarities.  Maybe they are too similar? Or perhaps Norroy isn't as 'sweet' as she seems?

Personal note: This was my first week of chemotherapy and my operation is now scheduled for after that.  I didn't know what to expect but I haven't fallen off the cliff edge and I'll continue to post and tweet when and while I can.

Whitechapel S3 Episode 2: Screenshots

The tension built brilliantly in episode 2 with Chandler's 'date' providing wonderful comic contrast. Oh Lizzie, how could you read a man so badly!

It seems odd that we get a new story on Monday - normally we have to wait months for those.  What a treat.

It was great to see some of the scenes that Rupert tweeted about last year - the crawling under the floorboards wasn't at all what we imagined.

A 'few' screenshots to gaze on until I can post again....

Before I go, US fans - Whitechapel 3 will air on BBC America on 28 March 2012.

Whitechapel S3 Episode 1: Screenshots

Series 3 of Whitechapel has started brilliantly.  Episode 1 was fantastic. The scary atmospherics, the humour and the development of character were a joy.

Lizzie behaved exactly as we would all do faced with Rupert arriving in our workplace!  I also adored the scene with Buchan using Chandler's desk accessories to explain the case oblivious to Chandler's distress.  It was so well done.

Episode 1 opened to 6.6m viewers and an AI (Appreciation Index) of 87.

I'll try and say more when I have some time and energy and as that may be a while, I'll entertain you with screenshots.

Red Tails: New Film

Rupert Penry-Jones is in the cast of the film Red Tails, a George Lucas film which has just been released in cinemas in the US.

The project seems to have been in existence for a while. It's been in Rupert's Spotlight entry and @JayneS34444 says it was mentioned in Rupert's biography in the playtext for The Priory.  It's now been added to his IMDB page

This is the extended trailer (there is no Rupert)

There are also some trailers on the iTunes store.  I think Rupert is at 0.30s in the TV spot and at 1.39 in trailer 3. It's the same scene in both: the guy on the right in the aircraft.  Those eyes look familiar!

This article has a good review and little picture of Rupert.

The film also features former Spooks alumni David Oyelowo, Matthew Marsh (S6) and Barnaby Kay (S3)

I would love to hear from any US Rupert fans who have seen the film.

Personal Message

Updated:  As some of you know I was diagnosed with cancer at the start of the year.  I'm currently having scans and have a big operation scheduled for 1 February (assuming the scans are ok and I have to be positive).

It's an odd period of 'normality' after the shock of the initial news, so I will try and update Twitter with Rupert news (and to a lesser extent the blog) when I can.

Many, many, many thanks to everyone for their messages and best wishes.  They mean a lot.

Su

xx

____________________________________________________________________________

I've had some difficult health news today so I won't be able to update the blog or Twitter any more.

Rupert tweeted to say he was doing press for Whitechapel 3 today and that should be on our screens soon.

In the meantime, I wish Rupert all the best with his career and hope he gets the success he deserves.  And many thanks to all of you on here, on Twitter and on e-mail for being such wonderful chums.

Good luck  (and please wish me luck too)

Susanna.
